Seminole resident, Flossie Lee Spoonemore, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her home, at the age of 97.
Flossie, the daughter of George and Josephine (Allen) Moore, was born May 20, 1928, in the oil boomtown community of Three Sands, Oklahoma. At a young age, Flossie’s family followed the oil patch to the Seminole area. Flossie attended Strother Schools into high school, before moving to and graduating from Butner High School. Later in life, Flossie would attend Seminole Junior College, where she would receive her associates degree. On May 23, 1951, Flossie married Raymond Spoonemore, in Konawa. Flossie and Raymond would enjoy 56 years of marriage, prior to his passing, April 11, 2008. Flossie taught Head Start, for many years; in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, moving rocks in her rock garden, and doing crochet, and in all things that Flossie did, she was praising the Lord. Flossie was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church for over thirty years, followed by a membership at Harvey Road Baptist Church which spanned over 20 years. During her membership at Harvey Road, Flossie taught the senior adult women’s Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, George and Josephine Moore; her brothers, Mike Moore, John Moore, Howard Moore, and Cecil Moore; and by her daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Spoonemore.
Flossie is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Cecil Spoonemore, of Seminole and Larry and Jeannie Spoonemore, of Seminole; grandchildren, Samantha Kerr and her husband, Stanley, and R Paul Spoonemore; great grandchildren, Isaiah Spoonemore, Urban Spoonemore, and Alexis Kerr; special friend, Judy Aradoz and many other family members and friends.
Viewing will limited in the funeral home, no viewing at the service.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:30 P.M., at Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole, with Pastor Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
