Ennis Gene “Russell” Warden, Shawnee resident, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in Shawnee at the age of 75. Russell was born on December 2, 1949 in Prague, OK to Ennis Green and Velma Lee (Tye) Warden. At an early age he joined and proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked in vehicle maintenance. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a level 5 aircraft painter. Russell married the love of his life Susan “Sue” Lorrine Warden on September 22, 1967 in Gainesville, Texas. Sue went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2025.
Russell loved his family, his siblings and above all else his bride Sue. He took every opportunity to photograph and record memories with the camcorder. He found great joy in traveling, camping and vacationing. Russell and Sue enjoyed their trips to Branson and traveling with the Teardrop Camping Club. Russell was an avid OU football fan. He enjoyed music and collecting records. He also loved his Pomeranians.
Russell is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Geoffery Busk of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers and sister-in-law, Melvin Warden of Yukon and Floyd and Marilyn Warden of Meeker; sister, Rosie Soule of Bowlegs; granddaughter, Jenna Busk of Oklahoma City and many other family and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Warden and siblings, AV Warden, Carl Warden, Elsie Hill, Richard Warden, Johnny Warden, Jesse Warden and Linda Hoskison.
Viewing will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Harvey Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks, OK.
