Elsie Lucille (Willoughby) Wilson

August 12, 1937 — February 7, 2022

Seminole

Elsie L. (Willoughby) Wilson went to her heavenly home on February 7, 2022. Elsie was born on August 12, 1937, at home in Byars, Oklahoma to Russell and Dovie (Hale) Willoughby.  She graduated from Vanoss High School in 1955.  She married Herman Wilson, the love of her life, on July 13, 1956 in Oil Center, Oklahoma.  They spent 60 years together before his death in 2017.  They were loving parents to three children, David, Judy, and Karen.  They selflessly cared for Karen who suffered from Hurler’s Syndrome until her death at the age of 12.    They moved to Seminole in 1963 where Elsie was a homemaker for many years. She later worked for the Wonder Bread Store in Seminole, retiring in 2001.  Elsie and Herman were active members of the Seminole Free Will Baptist Church.  Elsie also served as a volunteer with Pink Ladies at Seminole Hospital.  She epitomized the Proverbs 31 woman as she worked with her hands and cared for her family.  Elsie was a gifted seamstress and an excellent cook/baker.  She enjoyed preparing meals for her children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.  Sunday dinners are fondly remembered by her family, especially her homemade pies.  Elsie grew up singing with her siblings and continued to sing in the church choir and other groups at church with her beautiful alto voice. No family gathering was complete without the family gathered around the piano singing.

Elsie is survived by her son David Wilson and wife Cindy, her daughter, Judy Chaffin, two sisters; Lavell Nelson, Sue Yeargan and husband Larry, sister-in-law, Jeanie Wilson, grandchildren; Mandy Adcock and Kevin, Nicole Whisenhunt and Eric, Christopher Wilson and Kaitlin.  She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; Jake and Jaden Adcock, Addison, Aiden and Archer Whisenhunt, Nehemiah, James and Asher Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman, daughter, Karen, brothers; Marion, Dee, Junior and Leroy Willoughby, sisters; Mattie Willoughby, Juanita Frantz, Laverne Strawn, Bernice Edge, and Bonnie Lee.
