Ellen Mae (Larney) Burgess

Ellen Mae (Larney) Burgess , age 99 and long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life January 31, 2022 at her home under Kindful Hospice Care of Ada.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa.  A Wake service will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel also.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7th at the Chapel, and burial will follow at the Burgess Family Cemetery.  Rev. Kellos Walker will officiate.  Casket bearers are Camron Archer, Keegan Archer, Robert Archer, Brandon West, Mike Sisco, and Jason Burgess.  Honorary bearers are her grandsons, nephews, and great nephews: Mitch Buck, Lenord Harjo, Woodrow Harjo, Amon Burgess,

Ellen was born December 14, 1922 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school and later married Bobby Burgess May 11, 1946 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma.  Ellen was a member of High Springs Baptist Church.  She loved to do Indian bead-work, and she was an excellent cook.  Ellen was also an avid OU football fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Cora Archer of Konawa, eight grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jimmy Larney; husband, Bobby Burgess; two sons, Bobby and Ricky Burgess; two daughters, Barbara West and Lori Mullican; and one brother, Charles Foster.
