Dwight Hill Butler, age 69 and a resident of Konawa Oklahoma, passed away August 22, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 26, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Rick Howsmon, Christopher Butler, Brian Butler, Bruce McCraw, Brandon Stoup, and Mark Stoup. Honorary bearers are Gary Payne, Oness Carpenter, Donnie Payne, and Tony Beeler. The family will receive guests Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Dwight was born October 20, 1955 in San Diego, California to David Harris Butler and Wilma Jean (Crenshaw) Lamb. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1979 with the rank of GMM2 E-5 T3 Division on the USS Chicago and crossed the equator twice. While in the Navy, he received his G.E.D., and he went on to graduate in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He married Sherry G. Cochran August 23, 1991 in Konawa. He worked as a roughneck in the 1980's, and later, he became a Civil Engineer and owned the Anchor Engineering Firm from 2002 until 2023. Dwight enjoyed ship reunions, and he loved riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Butler of the home; three sons, Mac McAnally and wife, Rebecca of Oklahoma City, Joey McAnally and partner, Jackie of Oklahoma City, and Brian Butler and wife, Angela of Bristow, Oklahoma; one brother, Bob Butler and wife, Joylin of Konawa; two grandchildren, Serina McAnally and Jaylyne Huddleston; honorary grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Cameron Scroggins; one great grandchild, Bennett; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and four sisters, Carolyn Watts, Sharon Gladden, Donna Walker, and Teresa Miley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to help with Dwight's funeral expense.
