Don Allen Mace

Dr. Don Allen Mace, age 78 and a lifelong Oklahoman, moved on to greener pastures Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma in 1947 to two educators, Carmen Lee and John Robert Mace shortly after JR returned home from WWII.

A 1972 OU Medical School graduate, Don went on to practice internal medicine at Shawnee Medical Center Clinic for over 20 years where he improved and saved numerous lives. Don also served as an officer in the Army Reserves training other Army doctors. Don’s retirement career was as a rancher, raising registered Black Angus with his wife, on her family’s Centennial Farm in Wewoka. Don spent his early years snow skiing in Colorado and abroad and he also loved life at Lake Eufaula, where he and family made many wonderful memories over the years. His cattle and time on the farm were precious to him. Don’s intellect, work ethic, and kindness are surpassed by few and his positive impact on the world and those around him will be lasting.

Don is survived by his dearly loved wife of 20 years, Gayle Mace, her daughters Amie (Justin) Orr and Jennifer (Matt) Hale, their son, Gavin and (Emma) Hale and grandchild Jack. Don is also survived by his son in Montana, Ethan (Susan) Mace and grandchildren, Max & Sadie, as well as son Greg Mace, stepson Eric Lloyd, sister-in-law, Diane Mace, niece and nephews, Lauren, Jamin and Jack Mace, and their spouses and children. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and JR, his younger brother, Bill, mother of Greg and Ethan, Linda Mace, mother of Eric, DeeAnne Mace, his grandson, Nick Mace, and his beloved dogs Lester, Elmer, Baxter and Rufus.

We are all thankful to have known such an extraordinary human being, may he rest in peace and be honored in our memories.

Services to be held at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma, Thursday August 14, 11:00 A.M. with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
