Dennis "Wayne" Mullings

Dennis Wayne Mullings, Maud resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 76. Wayne was born on January 2, 1948 in Okmulgee, OK to Alvin Lawrence and Nina Mae (McMillin) Mullings. He married Lou Ellen Bland on February 17, 1968 in Ada, OK. 

Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war as a photographic intelligence man. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a jet engine tester. He was proud to be the owner and operator of his own heating and air business. Wayne enjoyed gardening. He loved watching kids and grandkids play in sports. 

Anytime Wayne found out there was a kid in need at the school he provided for the need in secret. He loved his family. Wayne loved his kids and grandkids and was always interested in what they were involved in and would research the subject if he didn’t understand what they were doing. He loved his wife but loved to tease her even more. Wayne loved God and wanted everyone to know about His son Jesus. 

Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lou Ellen Mullings; two daughters, Jamie House and husband, David of Maud, OK and Carrie Azlin and husband, Nic of Maud, OK; daughter-in-law, Valonda Mullings of Maud, OK; brother, Glenn Mullings and wife, Jane of Maud, OK; sister, Reta Klein of Mustang, OK; nine grandchildren, Kacy Mullings, Hannah House, Matt Mullings, Josh House, Caleb House, Ruth Azlin, Micah House, Leah Azlin and Nicole Azlin; six great grandchildren and many other family and friends. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Nina Mullings; son, Tracy Mullings and granddaughter, Lacy Mullings.

Those serving as casket bearers will be David House, Nic Azlin, Josh House, Caleb House, Kacy Mullings, Matt Mullings and Cooper Nance. Honorary casket bearers will be Glen Mullings, Scott Mullings, Ryan Mullings and Brian Ingram.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 and from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Taproot Church located at 22 E. Dunloup, Shawnee, OK. Pastor Keith Ward will be officiating. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
