Darla Ruth (Bottom) Miles

Darla Ruth (Bottom) Miles, age 74 and a long-time resident of Asher, Oklahoma passed away August 26, 2025 at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church located at 109 E. Main in Asher, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Joe Howard Williamson will officiate and burial will follow at Vista Cemetery. Casket bearers are Brice Schou, Gaylon Wells, Evan Wells, Randy Davidson, Curtis Standford, and Byron Cline. Honorary bearers are Eddie Wayne Bottom, Jr., C.J. Sisco, Matt Schou, Charlie Aschraft, and Roger Kelly. The family will receive guests on Monday, September the 1st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Konawa.

Darla was born March 9, 1951 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Ralph Edward “Ed” Bottom and Lillie Marie (Reinschmeidt) Bottom. She graduated from Asher High School, and she received and Associate Degree from OBU in Shawnee. She married Steven Andrew Miles May 29, 1969 in Oil Center, Oklahoma. She was Non Pro Champion in Oklahoma numerous times, and she was a finalist in NCHA Summer Spectacular Cutting. She also won the 5/6 Non Pro Southern Futurity Championship. Darla loved her cattle, and she would get on her Gator and check them three or four times a day. She loved raking and bailing hay, and she loved taking care of cattle, horses, and cats. Every Sunday morning, she looked forward to going to Ada to eat Sunday breakfast at Boom-A-Rang. She loved watching and going to OU softball, but most of all, she loved being together with her husband, Steve, 24/7. 

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Steve Miles of the home; two sisters, Connie Wartchow and husband, Ronnie of Roff, Oklahoma, and Phyllis Sisco and husband, Richard of Asher, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Nancy Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, David Miles of Ada, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lillie Bottom; one brother, Eddie Bottom; and one sister, Charlotte Bottom.
