Maud resident, Custer Leroy Crawford, 88, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Seminole.
Leroy, the son of Custer and Nettie (Cain) Crawford, was born December 6, 1937, in Maud. Leroy left high school to join the US Army. On July 23, 1964, he married Artie Hester, in Ada. Leroy was a pipeline worker for many years, which kept him very busy, but when he was able to take a break, he enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Crawford; and a grandson, John Dempsey.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Artie, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Erma Crawford, of Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Kaye and Richard Hicks, of Kingman, Kansas; grandchildren, Preston Crawford, Nathan Crawford, Tesha Messenger, Josh McCracken, Joseph Taylor, Justin White, Angel White, and Brandon Lyle; great grandchildren, Kolton Twomey, Kilian Harjo, Rueben Messenger, Alexa Messenger, Madison Bogle, McKenzie Bogle, Reese Crawford, Alicia Dempsey, Copelyn Crawford, Piper Crawford, Haile Dempsey, Aidan Prentice, Casen Crawford, Castle Crawford, Clinton and Haley Lewis, Leyton Lewis, Alyssa White, Jr. White, and Desmond Lyle; great-great-grandchildren, Luna Lewis, Avery Dempsey, Ansleigh Dempsey, and Able Dempsey; two sisters, Mary Winters, of Seminole, and Loretta Bowder, of Ardmore; along with many other family members and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. with Leroy’s grandson, Nathan Crawford officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
