Coretta Marie Cole

Coretta Marie Cole, Seminole, OK resident, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 in Seminole at the age of 82. Coretta was born on April 27, 1943 in Shawnee, OK to Melvin H. and Tressie Marie (Galloway) Brown. She married Eugene Cole on August 19, 1981 in Durant, OK.

Coretta loved her kids and her grandkids. She would give her last dollar to help someone before she would spend it on herself. She always thought of others and loved to cook for others. Coretta loved tending her flowers and her flower bed. She took great joy in raising calves.

Coretta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alton and Evelyn Peavler of Seminole, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Tecumseh Underwood of Maud, OK; sister, Dorothy McCathern of Meeker, OK; two grandchildren, Shane Travels and Brandon Travels; five great grandchildren, Aspen Travels, Jaxon Travels, Mason Travels, Nevaeh Travels, Randy McClanahan and many other family and friends.

Coretta was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Tressie Brown; husband, Eugene Cole and sister, Mary Lou Bachhofer.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 and from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Butch Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
