Christine Sue McKinney

Christine Sue McKinney, Earlsboro, OK resident passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Tecumseh at the age of 65. Christine was born on July 7, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA to Raymond and Susie (Johnson) Harjo. She earned her masters degree from East Central University. Christine worked as a case manager for the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. She married John McKinney on July 11, 1991 in National City, CA.

Christine grew up around the Seminole area and spent most of her time at her home in Earlsboro, OK with her family and friends. She was involved with the Native American Sobriety Movement. Christine enjoyed helping others, singing in church and singing at the Ceremonial Grounds. She took great joy in serving the Lord, praising and walking with Him. Christine loved life to the fullest. She treasured her kids and family and friends.

Christine is survived by her husband John McKinney of Earlsboro; sons Mark Solomon Wolfe of the home, Christopher John McKinney of Shawnee, Raymond Bear McKinney of the home and John Homma McKinney of the home; brother, Richmond Harjo of Fort Gibson, OK; sister, Arlene Davis of Okemah, OK and Carol Harjo of Shawnee, OK; two grandchildren, Cooper Glen-John McKinney and Melena Renea-Sue McKinney and many other family and friends.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Betty Carpitcher, Lena Ponkilla of Shawnee, Marilyn Toledo and brothers, Travis Harjo and Mike Harjo.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Daniel Wolfe, Phillip Peacore, Marshall Ponkilla, JR Ponkilla, Brian Ponkilla, TJ Wapskiaeh and Dylan Ponkilla. Honorary casket bearers will be Christopher McKinney, Mark Wolfe, PJ Wolfe and Dyland Ponkilla.

Christine will be taken to Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church in Wewoka at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 for wake services.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Eric Tholocco officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery in Wetumka, OK.
