Charles Jan Campbell, 86, passed away on August 9, 2025, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was born on December 30, 1938, to Haskell Charles Campbell and Jewell Sexton Campbell in Konawa, Oklahoma. As a young child, he moved with his family to Clarksburg, California, where he attended elementary and high school. At age 15, he returned to Konawa, Oklahoma, and graduated from Konawa High School in 1956.
Charles joined the United States Navy, serving at the Norman Naval Air Station and later in Kodiak, Alaska. On July 18, 1958, he married Kathryn Louise “Kay” Wilson-Campbell. While stationed in Kodiak, his daughter, Kathryn Lynn Campbell, was born on May 29, 1959, in Ada, Oklahoma.
Following his naval service, Charles lived in Oklahoma City, where he attended the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in Accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for many years with Peterbilt Motors, the Federal Aviation Administration, and in private practice. He also operated a home rental business, forming lasting friendships through that work.
Charles had a lifelong passion for collecting model electric trains and vintage amusement machines, including pinball games.
On March 17, 1979, he married his second wife, Joan Prentice-Campbell, in Konawa, Oklahoma.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Haskell Campbell and Jewell Campbell; his wives, Kathryn Louise “Kay” Wilson-Campbell and Joan Prentice-Campbell; his daughter, Kathryn Campbell Barker; and his stepdaughter, Glenna Prentice.
He is survived by his brother, Max Campbell and wife, Carol, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his sister, Nancy Campbell-Lemmings and husband, Jerry, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his son-in-law, Gary Barker of Sherman, Texas; his stepchildren, Glenn Prentice and Kerry Prentice, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; his granddaughter, Kyndra Barker Reed and husband, Jeffrey, of Denison, Texas and their children Abigail, Kaelyn, Olivia, and Bethany, and grandson Ryan Charles Barker and wife, Lindsay of Van Alstyne, Texas, and their children Afton and Emily of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Selah and Lincoln of Van Alstyne, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 16, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Ryan Barker, Jeffrey Reed, Tim Stevenson, Jim Daniels, Glenn Prentice, and Eric Stevenson.
