Betty Lou Jones, 84, longtime Seminole resident, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at her home in Seminole. Betty was born April 18, 1930 in Jefferson County near Addington, Oklahoma to Betsy (McDaniel) and Irving Davis. Betty moved to Seminole in March of 1981 from Sweetwater, Texas. She grew up in Addington, Oklahoma and attended schools there and graduated from Addington High School in 1948. She was a cafeteria cook at Varnum Schools from 1981 to 1988. She loved gardening, canning, sewing and enjoyed sitting on her porch and looking out for her neighbors. She loved to go dancing at the American Legion Hut and was a member of the Highway Baptist Church north of Seminole. She married Alvin Wayne “ Jonesy” Jones on April 18, 1982, in Seminole and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2001. Betty is survived by three sons, David Jackson of Hawley, Texas, Danny Jackson of Seminole, Oklahoma and Dennis Jackson and his wife, Glenda, of Wolf, Oklahoma, her two daughters, Debbie Winn, and her husband Joey of Seminole, Oklahoma, Donna Cooper and her husband, Billy, of Hawley, Texas, and her three sisters, Altena Conrad of Waurika, Oklahoma, Imogene Hardy of Marlow, Oklahoma and Fayedean Smith of Jolly, Texas, she is also survived by her grandchildren David Jackson, Jr., Brad Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Ashley Jackson, Christy Cooper, Karen and Byron Chavez, Christine and Jonathan Kifer, and Stephanie and Nick Pepe, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death,by her parents and her husband, her twin sister Billie Sue Reese, sisters, Mildred and Merle, and brothers, Cotton Davis and Casey Davis, and a grandson, Darrell Ray Jackson. Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
