Alvin Dean Monroe, age ninety and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away May 12, 2025 at Jasmine Estates in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Nelson Monroe, Alan Monroe, Dean Monroe, Matt Bramblett, Edgar Hernandez, and Kevin Roark.
Alvin was born July 7, 1934 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Alton Monroe and Alma (Heavin) Monroe. He was a self-employed equipment operator for the telephone company, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa. Alvin loved gardening, and he was a collector of knives. He was also a great handyman.
He is survived by three sons, Nelson Monroe and wife, Linda of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Alan Monroe and wife, Sheila of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Dean Monroe and wife, Sierra of Woodville, Wisconsin; one daughter, Rita Monroe of Edmond, Oklahoma; three sisters, Val Wingate, Carolyn Wilkerson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Della Singleton and husband, Ralph of Chickasha, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Pat Monroe: two brothers, Vernon and Olen Monroe; and one sister, Annabelle Weaver.
