Alvin Frank Lucas, age 88 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away at his home December 27, 2025.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Southwest Church of Christ located at 505 W. 17th St. in Ada, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Brian Lewis will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Tony Kuestersteffin, Mark Stoup, Arthur Johnson, Tommy Myers, Don Kite, and Brandon Stoup. Honorary bearers are Ronnie Stuart, Billy Stuart, and Gerry Lucas. The family will receive guest from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Alvin was born to Aaron Lucas and Rosa (Bain) Lucas on December 8, 1937 in Valliant, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma, and he was a high school teacher for the Konawa school system. He was a coach, volunteer fireman for Konawa, and a member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada. Alvin married JoAnne Prater in McAlester, Oklahoma on August 19, 1957. Alvin loved gardening, hunting, reading, and politics.
He is survived by one daughter, Alison Dancer of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one son, Dirk Lucas and wife, Stephanie of Edmond, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Taylor Lucas of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Avery Holt of Ft. Worth, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, JoAnne (Prater) Lucas on January 10, 2023; his parents, Aaron and Rosa Lucas; two sisters, Reba LaRue Lucas and Inell Stuart; and one brother, Roy Lucas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Alvin Lucas.
