Alma Ruth Hopper

Alma Ruth Hopper, 90, longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Ada, Oklahoma. Alma was born on June 15, 1933 in Maud, Oklahoma to Anna Alma (Mahoney) and Phillip Easton Knowles. Alma grew up in Maud, Oklahoma and attended grade school there. Alma worked at many different occupations during her life, she was an Avon Representative, Dietitian at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma, a pipeline laborer and a homemaker.

After living in Maud, Oklahoma for several years, her family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma where she like to hangout at St. Gregory’s, but she lived most of her adult life in Pink, Oklahoma. Alma loved crocheting, yodeling, singing, dancing, crossword puzzles and collecting cookie jars, stamps, matchbooks and postcards. She was also a Cub Scout den mother while living in Maud, Oklahoma. The family remembers when she killed 3 peach trees while cutting switches off them. She was really good at shooting her shotgun. She would step out on the back porch of her house and holler when it was time to eat, and all the kids could always hear her anywhere they were on the 40 acres where they lived.

Alma leaves to cherish her memories, her sons; Phillip Hopper of Maud, Oklahoma, J.L. and Shirley Hopper of Maud, Oklahoma, and Sheldon and Jayne Hopper of Ada, Oklahoma, her daughters; Ruth and Alvin Arms of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Mable Hopper of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Raymond Hopper and Wilford Hopper, and her son, Guy Hopper.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with Rev. Butch Bradley officiating at the service. Burial will take place at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma.
